Why I’m Doing This

Why I’m Doing This

Nobody asked me why I’m doing this. Nobody cornered me at a dinner table and demanded an explanation. This is just me, laying it out there.

I want to live. Not just stick around, not just scrape by—but really live as I get older. To be active, strong, present. To feel my body working with me instead of against me.

Because I’ve seen the other side of it. I watched my mother fade with Alzheimer’s. If you’ve seen that, you know—it’s not just cruel, it’s a thief. It robs you of the person you love and leaves you with echoes. That decline has been long, brutal, and it’s carved a conviction deep into me: this cannot happen again. Not to me, not to the people I love.

That’s why health matters more than money, more than achievements. You can say you’d sacrifice anything for your son, your daughter, your spouse, your best friend—but words mean nothing if you’re not there. In Spanish there’s a saying: palabras son solo palabras. Words are only words. The meaning runs deeper: you prove love by showing up, not by talking about it.

Enter Andrew. He came at me with this idea and wouldn’t let it go. He pushed, he prodded, he dragged me into it. His intensity? It drives me nuts. But I admire it too. He’s relentless, in the best and worst ways. And beneath all that fire, he’s not just a partner—he’s a good man and a true friend with unshakable values. The kind of person you want in your corner when you’re building something that actually matters.

We don’t need to do this. We’ve both done fine financially. We could sit back, sip the wine, and let the years eat away at us. But money doesn’t mean much when your joints ache and your mind slows. Health is the real currency. Energy is the real freedom.

So we share what we’re learning. Everything we put out there is exactly what we’re using ourselves to maximize our lives. This isn’t meant to be a treasure hoarded by a chosen few—it’s an open book.

Andrew started by focusing on men like us—because that’s who we are. But the vision is bigger than that.

So why Chisel? Because this isn’t about six-packs and gym selfies. It’s about not giving in. It’s about waking up every morning with fight left in the tank. It’s about refusing to be the guy on the sidelines of his own life.

That’s why I’m doing this.
